ADIDAS CREATES KICKS THAT ARE 100% BIODEGRADABLE & VEGAN FRIENDLY
Adidas has continued it's investment in sustainable products and green technology by collaborating with German biotech company AMsilk to create the world’s first performance shoe made using Biosteel® fiber (a replication of natural silk).
The launch of it's new shoe follows on from Adidas's last sustainable innovation partnership last year with Parley for the Oceans where they transformed ocean plastic into material for a high performance shoe.
"This concept represents premium innovation. By using Biosteel® fiber in our products, we have achieved an unrivalled level of sustainability. We are moving beyond closed loop and into an infinite loop – or even no loop at all. This is a pioneering stride forward beyond sustainability into a new territory of bionic innovation." - James Carnes, Vice President of Strategy Creation at adidas
The fabric used for this new sneaker, Biosteel® fiber, meets the high standards required from a performance shoe - it's tough, lightweight and allergen free. Not only that, it's truly sustainable by being 100% biodegradable and vegan friendly.
Adidas say this shoe should be available to purchase this year.
